Cool off your CPU

Take a drink from your Camelback

You're just about halfway around

your River Front Trail virtual ride.

You made it! Take a look back, the view of the Old Mill Bridge, Mount Garfield and the Bookcliffs is remarkable.

RFT3

Eagle Ridge Park is a well maintained oasis on the journey. A little time, water and bathrooms can cater to your human needs. If you wish a longer ride, roads, some with bike paths, can take you toward Palisades.

RFT3

Enjoy the energy that you stored on your hill climb as you speed across the bridge and head west again. The smooth path with good visibility allows for some safe speed.

RFT3

The Botanical Garden's fence along the trail is deceptive. A visit would be welcome. If you're interested in making the valley bloom, the Western Colorado Gardening Foundation could use the help.

RFT3

The trail dives under the 5th Street and Railroad bridges and you can enjoy the trail before the gap appears.

RFT3

Just after the trail restarts, go under the Broadway Bridge...

RFT3

...make a hard right and head south across the bridge.

RFT3

Cross a couple of streets and you will see the sign that directs you to turn right for the Audubon section of the trail.

RFT3

Stop long enough to view the Redlands Power Station and some of the artifacts from its past. A canal fish screen protect fish.

RFT3

Here many of the tree tunnels are cottonwood trees.

As you look left, the bleak area shows the great work that the Grand Valley Audubon Society has done. With the site cleared, they soon will add water. You'll be able to say you remember when the future green dense foliage did not exist. They could use some help. Volunteer by calling:

970 241 4570.

Some of you may have helped on two weekends in the spring of 2005. Native plants now have replaced the choked growth of "Public Enemy #1".

THANKS
